Italian ambient techno duo Davide Perrone & Gabriele Giuggioli aka Primal Code, are set to release their debut album La Via Della Seta (The Silk Road) on Hypnus late August. It’s their second release for the Swedish label (Luigi Tozzi, BLNDR, Feral, Skymn) on which they released their debut EP Ēteru last year and comes on the back of their excellent four track Konstrukt debut 008/Artemisia earlier in the year. The album contains eight tracks that continue the Milan duo’s reserved yet rich textural representation of and explorative advocacy for the nature centred worldview. Three tracks have surfaced thus far, the glassy dub and breakbeat inspired ‘Magellano’ which is streaming on the album’s bandcamp page and the understated, ethereal and field sample heavy ‘Country of a Thousand Fields’ which recently premiered on XLR8 .
Our pick of the three is the ambient urgency of ‘Morgana’ where a delicate and consistent beat pumps away with subtle determination as steamy swells, bubbling effects and delicate percussion gather apace to create a sense of foreboding eeriness. Listen to it unfold below and pre-order La Via Della Seta, which is released on August 26, here.
