Indie30 doesn’t usually cover remixes but when two tracks from two of your favourite albums of 2018, Khonnar from Tunisian artist/producer Deena Abdelwahed and Working Class Woman from Canadian equivalent Marie Davidson get remixes from the likes of English left field electronic and techno luminaries Karen Gwyer and Daniel Avery respectively exceptions are mandatory.
Listen to Gwyer give the propulsive ‘Ken Skett’ a cloak of deliberative and at times cacophonous melodic ambience while Avery initially strips back the synths on Davidson’s devastatingly manic ‘Lara’ before delivering an electrifying elongation of its second half.
The remix of ‘Ken Skett’ come from Abdelwahed’s Tawa Remixes EP released today through InFiné which also includes remixes from M.E.S.H., Basile3 and Clip while Davidson’s single Lara is out now through Ninja Tune. Buy the former here and the latter here.
