This track, ‘Just A Story’ by the clearly uber talented Sydney artist Okenyo could have easily slid down the turgid commercial tunnel to overblown music hell. Thankfully, the fierce individual artistry that Okenyo brings to the table ensures that doesn’t happen. Indeed, the individuality embued by her authorative vocals, both in substance and arrangement and the very real emotion contained in what is actually quite a complex write renders this art, not product. ‘Just A Story’ is from Okenyo’s forthcoming EP, Mirage. Hype? Quietly along we go.
