Indie30

We first featured Scandinavian introspective pop outfit We Float a few months back to coincide with the release of their impressive debut album, Silence. Therefore, the opportunity to see the talented quartet, led by Norwegian songwriter and musician Anne Marte Eggen, live, as part of the two month long Sommarscen Malmo Festival was too good a chance for this writer to miss. The show took place against the dramatic backdrop of Malmö Castle and despite some very inclement weather intervening at the half way point of the set, Eggen (bass) and the Swedish trio of Linda Bergström (vocals/keys), Fanny Gunnarsson (electric piano) and Filip Bensefelt (drums) pressed on regardless, adeptly and soulfully taking the appreciative and knowledgeable audience through all but one of the cuts from their album.

Below is a selection of pics from the show and a repost of the former Top 30 listed track from the album, ‘Mysticeti’ from earlier in the year. You can grab a copy of Silence on vinyl by contacting the band here and buy it digitally here and here. If you do, you won’t be disappointed. Any European avant-garde festival promoters out there would do well to enlist this band to their schedule. Such exquisitely crafted music played this well deserves to be heard.
