Our current album of the week comes from the intellectually and musically salient Ought in the form of the outstanding Sun Coming Down. The fact that it equals if not betters their brilliant debut from last year More Than Any Other Day speaks volumes for just how good this young band are. Angst ridden but never overwrought with anger, brutally honest without overtly offending, the Tim Beeler/Darcy led outfit wear their influences but on an unpredictable sleeve. The frenetic pace of Sun Coming Down perfectly matches the largely unconscious exhaustion of modern life. With the acerbic and witty first single, ‘Beautiful Blue Sky’ spending an number of weeks at number one, the release of the record late last week gifted us the brand new video for the almost title track, ‘Sun’s Coming Down’ and the perfect excuse to rave about one of the best young bands going around. We’ve included that and album opener, ‘Men For Miles’ below. Sun Coming Down is out now through Constellation.
