Did you forget this track? No? Didn’t think so… Almost three months too late but fuck it! We’ve finally understood how (really, really) good Empress Of’s Me album is. We’ve retrospectively stuck it as AOTW where we originally were going to put and don’t ask why we didn’t at the time! Oh hindsight… It’s ironic but the lack of decent stuff lately and the inevitable end of year malaise has enabled some perspective. In that light, the brilliant ‘How Do You Do It’ makes a belated entry into the Top 30 this week at 17.
Joining Lorely Rodriguez is ex-Hooray For Earth mastermind, Noel Heroux with his new project Mass Gothic. His debut track in that incarnation is the emotive stomper ‘Nice Night’ off his forthcoming self titled record out next February. That’s at 19. Completing the new entries at 25 is ‘Waxing Moon’ featuring Predawn from Rayons who we featured on Wednesday. At 29 is Long Beard with ‘Turkeys’.
In big moves this week Molly Nilsson’s ‘Happyness’ moves up 9 spots to 6 while Aidan Knight moves into the Top 10 at 9 with ‘All Clear’ as does Blood Orange with ‘Sandra’s Smile (8). And its a Canadian 1,2,3 this week as TOPS remain at 1 with ‘Anything’.
