With so much amazing new music around, the chart is undergoing a severe culling each week at present. It’s not to say that the tracks heading out aren’t worthy, it’s just there’s only 30 tracks that can be featured at one time. That said, there are eight more new entries this week, all of which we have featured over the past week. Leading them off is Kirsten Ludwig with ‘Cinammon’ (21) while she is joined by Luke Reed ‘Like Other People’ (22), Will Toledo’s Car Seat Headrest ‘Vincent’ (24), Leon Vynehall ‘Kiburu’s (25), Okinya ‘Never Enough’ (27), Negative Gemini ‘Body Work’ (28) and the Icelandic double – Karó ‘Wolfbaby’ (29) and Samaris ‘Wanted 2 Say’ (30).
There was a big move this week with Phedré smashing into the Top 10 with their glitchy manic driven but somehow reassuring ‘Zastroszy’ (21 to 6). Parquet Courts hit the Top 10 at 10 with ‘Berlin Got Blurry’ (16 to 10) while Minor Victories track ‘A Hundred Ropes’ went from 21 to 13. FOUNTAINEER ‘Still Life (5) ascends the Top 5 while Postiljonen ‘How Can Our Love Be Blind’ (4) does likewise.
One current Top 30 listed scored a new video this week. New York’s Sunflower Bean might be heading south with their track ‘Easier Said’ (11 to 18) but the move in that direction is no real reflection on an excellent track. We thought we’d also pay a tribute to the amazing Majical Cloudz. Vocalist Devon Welsh and producer Matthew Otto called its quits and went their separate ways this week after four excellent records, two LP’s and two EP’s. ‘Wait & See’ (below) is still going strong after five weeks in at 15.
