Indie30

Two yet to be featured new entries this week both expansive in scope and clocking in at over six minutes. The first is from Austin trio Pale Dīan at #11 with the first single, the swirling, intense and heavily Cocteau Twins inspired ‘In A Day’, from their forthcoming debut record, Narrow Birth. It’s out on June 1 through Manifesto. The second is a sprawling piece of infectious electro-funk from from Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis, otherwise known as Los Angeles moonbeamers Peaking Lights. ‘Conga Blue’ is a return to form somewhat and a departure from the psych-pop of previous efforts. That’s bubbling away at #21.

The other four debuts are tracks we’ve featured before. The hypnotic, swaying opener, ‘Les Ombres’ from Washington DC pop outfit Brett‘s new record Mode is out highest new entry this week at 9. It’s joined by Swedish/American combo Djustin at 17 with ‘Stars’, Brooklyn based artist Maria Usbeck at 27 with ‘Moai Y Yo’ and ‘If You Want Me Now from Glaswegians Happy Meals at 28.

Turning the idea that gimmicky bubble gum pop music lacks substance and staying power smack down on its head, ‘Lipslap from London trio Kero Kero Bonito remains at 1 for the fourth week in a row.
