Indie30

Just the two new entries in a quiet chart week. That notwithstanding, they are two of quality despite both just sneaking into the bottom two spots. The first to mention is at 29. It comes from Toronto industrial and electronic crossover merchants Odonis Odonis with ‘Nervous’ their take on the mindless and ultimately fruitless quest for perfection and the unsettling absurdity that “virtual reality” will bring to that quest. It’s off their new record, Post Plague, the follow up to 2014’s excellent Hard Boiled Soft Boiled. It’s out June 17 through Felte Records.

The other new entry at 30 comes from Malmö based artist Catharina Jaunviksna who goes under the moniker of Badlands. Her ocean, moon and stars like journey in the form of the pulsating and otherworldly ‘Echo’ is the second single to come from her debut album released a couple of weeks back, Locus.

There is a new number one this week in the form of Paris outfit Her Magic Wand with the ultra-infectious ‘Draw A Line’ while Alice b, Peaking Lights and Nite Jewel enter the top 10 at six and seven and eight with ‘Där solen slår’, ‘Conga Blue’ and ‘Boo Hoo’ respectively.

The just simply lovely new track, ‘Lost Dreamers’ from Mutual Benefit quietly rises 10 spots to 13. To coincide with the rise, the track scored a video that sees human beings as just part of nature, not in control or dissociated with it. Just beautiful and really telling.
