“If you want something done, get Swedish guns,
take care of someone, get Swedish guns,
you need a helping hand, get Swedish guns,
take over someone’s land, get Swedish guns”
The start of the month saw The Radio Dept. release their first new track for a year, the reggae influenced no holds barred, ‘Swedish Guns’. Almost a song in two parts, it begins with urgent stabbing keys and a before giving way to almost a pastoral, calm like centre before the that layered urgency returns for its outro. It matches the song’s lyrical bent in that it rails against the Swedish arms industry and laments the complete apathy of the Swedish people who allow it to sell death in their name. A wholly satisfying number on all fronts that whets the appetite for their forthcoming album, Running Out Of Love set for October 21 on all formats through Labrador.
