Much has been said around Skeleton Tree, the sixteenth album by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds. It t would be nice though if there was more said about it. It’s truly a stunning masterpiece of proportions writ large and not for what it explicitly says or for what it does or does not conjure up in the minds of others and certainly not for what it was released in the shadow of. Nick Cave has always been an intensely private man and this will give you no insight into what you should have no insight into. It stands alone. And as with all Nick Cave album’s there is no need for context, for its timelessness takes care of that. Watch the two videos released thus far from the film One More Time With Feeling. The first is for the intense and longing, ‘I Need You’ resplendent in its gorgeous harmonies, while the second is for album opener, the drone laden and allegorical, ‘Jesus Alone’. Skeleton Tree is our current album of the week and can be purchased here.
