Combining simultaneously the sparse and languid with the full and frenetic, Melbourne post punk/pop outfit Stationary Suns are soon to drop their debut record, a self titled double sided 7″ EP. While relatively new in this incarnation, the band’s members have quite a history across the Australian DIY post punk/no/new wave underground.

Consisting of Lei and Mai Gryffydd, (Hissey Miyake-Glow, Acid Casualty, me mu & meow) and John Tucker (Spider Vomit), the line-up also boasts Love Of Diagrams drummer Monika Fickerle, much to the Gryffydd sisters delight being long time fans.

The four track EP is eight minutes of grit and sparkle powered by high energy vocals, tight muscular rhythms and spiky melodies that fly off in a plethora of directions. Stream its bookends below, the fast paced, acerbic and wry opener, ‘You Won’t Remember This’ and the diversely arranged pop tinged closer, ‘Careless’.

You can stream the whole EP here before its wax release on October 21 via the Gryffydd’s brand new imprint, Identical Records. They launch it that night at the Tote Hotel.
