During 2016 Portland band Hollow Sidewalks digitally released their second album Year Of The Field Mouse and last month saw the long player get a vinyl release. While staying true to its rock roots, its ten tracks traverse genre nicely containing elements of neo psych, garage and hook filled pop imbibed with an definite early punk sensibility. A self effacing yet defiant document, band founder Nora Murphy Hughes’s vocals oscillate between being buried deep in the mix and standing front and centre. Her lyrical approach is both deeply reflective and personal as well as a being a subtle treatise of sorts on the social uncertainty of the times with a contextual focus on progressive change within and without. Check out two tracks below and pick up a copy here through High School Records.
