Istanbul synth pop duo Jakuzi will re-release their debut album Fantezi Muzik internationally next month. Core duo Kutay Soyocak and Taner Yücel have produced a record infused with a myriad of influences that permeate it’s ultimate dream like disposition, it’s Turkish pop roots and defiant lyrical bent. Elements of motorik and 70s era dance abound interspersed with doses of 80s goth and new wave. The shades of light and dark are matched by a mixture of hope and lament internally and externally, personally and politically, with every word sung in Turkish. It’s also introspective and emotional ride in many senses and Soyocak’s understated yet powerful voice adds to that feel. Fantezi Musik is out March 24 through Domuz (Turkey) and City Slang (Worldwide). Pre-order here.
