This time last year Florida based genre defying quartet PLEASURES released their debut album, Fucked Up Dreams Come True, a work that explored the multi-layered intersections between choices and their consequences. Now sees the release of their dark pop oriented and intensely dreamy new single, ‘Luscious Wave’. A master work of angular sonic manipulation where nothing is at it seems, from the warped yet inviting vocal approach of vocalist/guitarist Katherine Kelly to the soundscape shifting effects employed to each instrument, it’s an enveloping and thrilling ride. And if anyone doubts what a class drummer can bring to a band sample the evidence in both deed and script;
“Luscious Wave” is one of the first songs we worked on with our new drummer, Roger Lanfranchi. Asking him to join our band essentially changed the mood and tone of the music entirely — he’s a multi-genre drummer who focuses on R&B and Jazz, so that coupled with our synthy noisiness makes for very cool sounding music.” Katherine Kelly.
