Back in 2012 Helsinki based artists and good mates Jaakko Eino Kalevi and Long-Sam joined forces to produce their first full length Amateurs de Vérité under their own names. Since then both artists have been busy with their own solo efforts with Kalevi’s self titled debut full length being among our favourite of 2015. Now they’ve teamed up again but this time as Man Duo to release a new album, Orbit.
According to its press release the album boasts a number of genres and expectedly takes an off-kilter approach to them all. Doses of krautrock, funk, electro and blissful spaced out ballads abound across the album’s eight tracks sung in both Finnish and English as well as Italian. Sean Nicholas Savage also makes an appearance. We look forward to giving it a spin, especially on the strength of the excellent first single, the relentless and pulsating discipline of ‘What If It Falls’, seemingly a take on the absurdity of keeping up appearances in a false and fake world. Orbit is out through Solina on the 18th August.
