Our current album of the week, the blistering Big Skies by Sydney post punk quartet Mere Women is not only one of the finest records of the year but its also one of the most strongest. We posted about its mid June release as well as featuring a stream of it recently but thought we’d collect the three videos accompanying its three singles in case you’ve missed them. They are, in reverse order of release; ‘Eternally’, shot and edited by JK Robinson and capturing the potential vulnerability about walking home after a late night but wanting to believe you’ll be ok ; the title track ‘Big Skies’, shot on location by Vivian Huynh, Matthew Taylor & Gaffer in Capertree NSW; and ‘Drive’ a take on the day in the life of an artist directed by Matthew Douglas Taylor.
If you like your post punk honest, passionate and brimming with unbridled power, get yourself a copy of Big Skies on vinyl here. It’s out through Melbourne imprint Poison City. Highly, highly recommended.
