Montreal quartet Ought have changed things up dramatically on the lead single ‘These 3 Things’ from their forthcoming third album Room Inside The World. Alongside their usual instrumentation, they employ an array electronic gadgetry and bring synthetic beats into the disciplined fray. Band leader Tim Darcy croons about the tenuous state between connection and identity in a fully wired world over a metronomic beat and a hypnotic bass line as synths swirl around in intoxicatingly fashion. Its Jonny Look and Scottie Cameron directed video reflects this most cleverly. A welcome point of difference from 2015’s opus like More Than Any Other Day. Download the single here and pre-order the album in readiness for its February 16 release on their new home at Merge here.
