Early in the new year Berlin based Swedish DJ/Producer Sanna La Fleur Engdahl, aka La Fleur released her new two track EP Exhaust. It’s the latest in a long line of quality releases over the last half decade from the Watergate resident and Power Plant Records owner and follows up last year’s impressive Right Behind You.

Despite its deliberative swagger, the title track is a cut of the most dynamic proportions powered as it is by an insistent beat that’s complemented by an effects laden percussion loop that shuffles with infectious precision. Engdahl’s construction of this shifting yet ultimately solid base provides her with the chance to employ oppositional elements that shimmer dramatically while evoking a woozy, languid and aquatic like feel.

A solemnity takes over as a dream like analysis of music’s power is explored utilising as device, an echoed unanswered query from Canadian “spirtualist” Eckhart Tolle. It’s a vocal sample that is deliberately and tellingly left in its rhetorical state and given no tangible or intangible conclusion.

Listen to the track below and look out for this one to feature highly next week in our first chart for 2018. The Exhaust EP, also sporting the oscillating thrill  of’Fish Truck’on the flip side, is out now on Truesoul Records. Get it here.

To help mark the release, last week the Stockholm native delivered an eclectic mix highlighted by some killer transitions on Drumcode Radio Live with fellow Swede and Drumcode/Truesoul owner Adam Beyer. Listen with tracklist below.
