Brisbane duo Primitive Motion, the project of Sandra Selig and Leighton Craig, are set to release their new album House In The Wave next week and today share the final single, ‘Small Orbit’ complete with explorative POV inspired video. It’s an instrumental vignette of beauty and brevity, a euphorically subtle, lived in affair that in keeping with the album’s naturally minimalist aesthetic, was recorded without fuss and in real time at their home/garden/studio. Tape hiss and other sound incidentals included.

Namedropping two of their more idiosyncratic musical influences, in the words of Selig and Craig;

“Small Orbit is a two minute minimalist jaunt for shuffling drums, piano and wind instruments in the spirit of Penguin Cafe Orchestra, as played by Maher Shalal Hash Baz in a Brisbane home studio.”

Watch the track’s video below which captures, hole in the wall style, the essence of the recording process. House In The Wave is the duo’s seventh release and like the last two did, again finds a loving and appreciative home on Bedroom Suck Records. Its out February 23. Take the time to live and breathe it on vinyl here.
