Montreal electronic duo The Beat Escape released their their new album Life Is Short The Answer Long last week. Lush in atmospherics yet minimal in composition, each track rests on a simple melody that oscillates back into itself and disciplined beat structures that are slowly engulfed by somnambular layers of vocals and deep elemental effects. Despite the slow, steady pace and transcendental air, Addy Weitzman and Patrick A Boivin’s love of early techno, electro and industrial music is a barely hidden delight.
