DANIEL AVERY’S TECHNO MONSTER; DIMINUENDO

DANIEL AVERY’S TECHNO MONSTER; DIMINUENDO

Once it was given its own space, this music, it happened so naturally and so quickly. They really inspire me, those moments. Daniel Avery to Rob Hakimian, The 405. Full interview here.

While the rest of the long awaited and varied Daniel Avery album, Song For Alpha released early last month is worthy of his esteemed reputation, its cyclonic centrepiece, ‘Diminuendo’ is without question one of the best techno tracks of the year so far. The London techno producer’s reverberating chasm inducer went through a number of stages in its creation as did many of the other tracks on an album that was years in the making. Besides the constant spiralling coil that pulsates at different levels throughout, the undoubted lure is the mesmerising groove found in the rhythmic arrangements of drums and percussion. It’s unsurprising they formed the base for the rest of the track’s elements to revolve around. Song For Alpha is available here through Mute while ‘Diminuendo’ can be streamed below. If you haven’t heard it yet, be warned.
