After the propulsive and muscular first single ‘She Knows’ from their forthcoming second album We’re Not Talking, Brisbane trio The Goon Sax change the pace up a little on second single, ‘Make Time For Love’. This one clocks in a just over two minutes too and we stand amazed at just how much the band can pack into a track in such a short space of time and have it still feel spacious. The jangle pop oriented track sees Louis Forster take vocals, strings employed to expansive effect and a substantive appearance that doesn’t grate by that much maligned of percussion instruments, the cowbell. Once more lyrically mining the gap between love and everyday life, this time Forster homes on the inevitable incompatibility issues with a significant other that and states that despite the difficulties trying to live with yourself, never mind another love is not beaten.

“It’s also about realising that love is at odds with the rest of your life  and admitting defeat, head hung”.

The ‘Make Time For Love’ video is as dense in ideas and visuals as the track itself. For it the band enlisted Ryan Daniel Browne and shot the video in the Californian desert outside of Los Angeles inspired by the German fairytale Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed‘ by Lotte Reiniger and the 1968 Hungarian animated short film by Sándor Reisenbüchler, A Nap és a Hold elrablása. Watch it below. ‘Make Time For Love’ is out now here while you can pre-order We’re Not Talking’ here (AUS/NZ) and here (ROW).
