KÖLN QUARTET C.A.R. RETURN TO THEIR JAZZ INSPIRED KOSMISCHE & MOTORIK ROOTS ON NEW ALBUM

Köln experimental quartet C.A.R. have released their second full length album Look Behind You. The title is telling for an instrumental band as the album sees them returning to their original ambient, jazz and komische/motorik roots heard on 2014’s Beyond The Zero. After briefly experimenting with pop and electronic styles last year on the covers EP Interlude, Look Behind You is a stunning merger of free form traditional arrangements and instrumental manipulation. Free form and expansive yet restrained and considered in its ambient character, the record opens up on both sides with two up-tempo gems in the form of the syncopated buzz of ‘Geez’ and our pick of the record ‘Dick Schaffrath’, a focused interplay between jazzy sax, analog synths and motorik beats. Listen to the latter below and order a copy of the record on all formats here. Currently in our post punk/motorik et.al spotify playlist.
