PLAYLIST UPDATE – 5 SEPTEMBER: Matt Karmil ushers us into this latest written update of our House playlist on Spotify with his unique hypnotic take on the genre in the form of the off beat dominant title track from the Cologne based the English producer’s new EP for !K7, Sourced. London based New Zealand duo Chaos In The CBD follow with the sparkling ‘Double Dribble’ from their new EP Multiverse on Idwt Recordings. Left field Dutch producer Danny Wolfers aka Legowelt is up next with ‘Learning To Fly, a deep booming understatement fromhis new EP for Clone Records, Omnibus Babylon while the prolific Till Von Sein has released Say Say Say, his latest EP on his Tilly Jam label and the soulful ‘Impala’ is our pick of the four on it. Tom Demac has enlisted the emotive electronic pop duo Real Lies to provide spoken word on the wistful ‘White Flowers, his first release for Kompakt.

Berlin pair youANDme have teamed up with Berlin based American artist Gjaezon and the result is next. ‘That Bass’ is a fun, stripped back, beat and bass only improvised ode to the power of the sound of bass in electronic music out on Rejected. The radio edit of the deep ‘Shadows’ from another Berlin based duo Aaaron & Deckert is next. It’s out on Chapter 24 and features the drama filled vocals of yep, you guessed it another Berliner, Meggy. German producer and lifelong bird lover Dominik Eulberg is next with the deep tech-house A side his new EP Abendpfauenauge & Oleanderschwärmer which rests on ethereal melodies, some thick thumping kick and field recordings of birds. Released on his own Apus apus label. Following that is UK Producer Adam Helder with the circular groove laden Hawthorne Sessions released ‘Summer Storm’.

Velbert-Langenberg producer Markus Suckut is up next with the enticingly gentle and inwardly intense ‘Orchid’, his new single for Rekids Ltd. That’s followed by Spanish producer Nølah with the excellent flip and more house imbued track from the two on her new Anguz/Dagaz EP through Timeless Moment. Next up is Dusky with the smooth and tough Among The Gods out on their own 17 Steps label followed by Bpitch Control founder Ellen Allien‘s pulsating and glassy work with M. Caroselli ‘Deep Shock’ the title track of her EP for Insidek. Belfast producer LOR‘s then continues preparations for the release of his forthcoming moon landing inspired album Lunar Orbit Rendevouz with the electro/house offering ‘Command Module’ self released on LOREC.

The final new offering is the funk fuelled ‘Let’s Go Shopping’ from the late Oakland producer Nackt. Thankfully we continue to hear the work from an artist and producer whose life was cruelly lost in the Oakland warehouse fire of December 2016. The track is from Private Property Created Crime on Left Hand Path, the title and label home indicative of his fervent support for a socially just society.

NEW INDEPENDENT HOUSE MUSIC – AN INDIE30 PLAYLIST ON SPOTIFY

Updated September 5, 2018.

OLDER UPDATES

PLAYLIST UPDATE – 15 AUGUST: Melbourne DJ/producer Planète  joins the fray with the superb Res Cogitans’ from his new EP Continuum as does Belgrade equivalent Lelú with ‘blushing for you Aliras’ from Feet Inna Sand.

PLAYLIST UPDATE – 11 AUGUST: There’s a plethora of classic groove laden House around the place at the moment as some of the eleven new tracks added to our House Playlist since the last update show. The first two tracks and latest additions sport two intensely pleasing bass grooves. The first, is the newly self released single ‘Mess’ by Italian DJ/Producer Roberto Pedoto while the second ‘In The City’ comes from the US west coast through veteran musician/DJ/producer Damon Riddick aka Dam-Funk off his new EP Architecture II. Next is French producer Sebb Junior with his uplifting classic house inspired new single, ‘Reason’ before Ibiza based Chilean Francisco Allendes takes centre stage with his track ‘Eres’ from a new split EP with Hungarian Mario Domjan, aka Collective Machine out tomorrow on 8Bit. Nathan Micay (aka/formerly Bwana) has a new EP out on Whities under its catalogue number of 017. Its excellent A side ‘First Casualty’ is both in this playlist and out Top 30.

Spewing we missed its original release date back in June because the latest multi-genre EP Dark Outside from French electronic/house/techno artist Leo Pol is a winner in all respects – . The opening track ‘Caliente’ s arguably the most house driven of the four and is featured next – more on the Bass Culture released EP which recently scored a digital release soon. That’s followed by German electronic experimentalist Northern Dusk with the stunning ‘My Love’ the track chosen to launch San Francisco label Routine Espresso‘s six track compilation EP Trying Not To Lose You. St Petersburg Dj/Producer Ewan Rill comes straight after with his ultra smooth ‘Vessel Of Water’ off his new EP Bunch Of Sticks on Sever Records. Dizharmonia then weighs in with globally focused ‘Fos’ off the soon to be released Telos EP on Souq Records.

Stockholm label Clouded House assembled Swedish DJ/Producers Lukas Lyrestam, Gideon Forceman & Ludvig Franzen to each contribute a track to Sthlm 4Ever representing the best aspects of city’s rave scene and culture. The Franzen track is the thrillingly circular ‘Lie’ and enters the playlist as Lyrestam’s did upon the EP’s release date. Frederic Berger and Patrick Buck aka Kaiserdisco & Karotte, are next in line with ‘Crane*’, an excellent exponent of what tech-house can be done with eyes firmly on the essentials of both its antecedents.

Next is San Diego’s Demuir who put out a new EP in late July for Jump Recordings called The Nancy Dilemma. the spritely warmth of ‘Are We There Yet’ is our pick from it. The second track that entered after the last update and the penultimate of this update is the ten minute groove ’21’ from German Dj/Producer Alexis Cabrera. Its the title track on a  new EP for Ray Okpara’s AMA.

And last but not least and a track that should need no introduction is our current number seven, the brilliant ‘Rix’  by Montreal based French artist Groj.

*Wrong track originally included. The B side ‘Stork’ was mistakenly included as ‘Crane’, the EP’s A side.

PLAYLIST UPDATE – 29 JULY: Our last publicised House update occurred almost three weeks ago so as you’d expect there are more than a few new ones here. Leading us off is Barcelona based American DJ/Producer Maceo Plex with the atmospheric minimal tech-house imbued A side ‘Mutant Pulse’ (feat Paradigm Shift) from his new EP Mutant 2 on (Ellum Black).  The first solo release of the year from Cape Town artist Jackie Queens is next with her new single ‘Love Will Wait’ (Bae Electronic) while Italian DJ/Producer Whitesquare follows with his percussive wonder ‘Dahlass’ (Whitesquare Series). Berlin based Spaniard SIS is next with the title track ‘Danzan’ (Mobilee)from his new EP followed by the smooth ‘Apertura’ (Anjunadeep) from Dee Montero . The collaboration between Irish producers Socket Hog and Dego nestle in after that with ‘Reset’ (Hydrogen) from early in the month before the left field lo-fi house goodness of ‘Get Up to Get Down’ from Ben Hauke gets a guernsey. It’s off his new album ‘Only Old’ (Far Out Recordings)

New York City’s The Juan Maclean return with their new single ‘Just Once More’ (Classic Music Company) before London’s Emery Warman continues the groove with a play on a familiar theme with ‘Underground Joint’ from his Wild Awake EP (Moan) Then, Edinburgh’s Telfort produces an old school cut with an emphasis on acid bass lines, warm piano and classic vocal samples on the title track from his new EP ‘Rooms For Speculation’  (Lionoil Industries).

The deep yet subtle grooves of Irish producer Mano Le Tough’s ‘Vanishing Landscapes’ comes from the Cocoon Compilation R before the catchy ‘Pale Blue Dot’, the first single from Ross From Friends‘ new album Family Portrait on Brainfeeder while  LOR‘s new album is out shortly and the space themed title track ‘Lunar Orbit Rendevouz’ (LOREC) is the first single from it and following that is the equally transcendent icy sounds of ‘Cold Winds’ from Russian producer 8Lives (FAKTURA).

The beautifully propulsive ‘Back On Train’ is UK Veteran producer Quivver‘s (John Graham) contribution to Oliver Koletzk‘s 28 track comp Schneeweiß 9 for Still Vor Talent. French label Strctr‘s four track compilation Virtual Area sports the instantly agreeable ‘Timecode’ by French DJ/Producer Mara Lakour. Melbeourne’s String Theorum is next with the title track from the Night Poerty EP (CLIPP_ART) and Japan’s Jun Kamoda follows with ‘Dance Sweet Dance’ off the AMAI DANCE EP (Hopera). Two excellent tracks from late June we neglected to include were Róisín Murphy‘s defiant ‘Plaything’ (The Vinyl Factory) and DJ 3000‘s ‘Raki’ from the Hadje EP on Motech. Two replacement tracks from Tilman ‘Talking About Today’ and ‘A Moment Of Clarity’ both off Beyond My Soul (Fineand DJ Boring ‘Found Love’ for ‘Exotic Feelin’ off the Tahn EP on Shall Not Fade.

PLAYLIST UPDATE – 10 JULY: Four new tracks today. The elastic old school groove of ‘A Moment Of Clarity’ from Mainz DJ producer Tilman. The multi-faceted ‘Can’t Cry’ by Swede Lukas Lyrestom runs like an encyclopaedia of house styles from jackin’ to deep. ‘Pinao’ is another super involved style shifter from New York based producer Anthony NaplesLocked Groove‘s sublime title track on his new 2 track EP ‘From Beyond’ is a deeply affecting take on a well known motif.

UPDATE – 9 JULY: New York City electronic and house producer Galcher Lustwerk leads off the latest update of tracks in our House playlist with the sublime coolness of ‘This N’ That’, one of the many album standouts from his new album 200% Galcher. He is joined by English and Dutch DJ/Producers respectively Caroline Banx & Thee J Johanz, aka Banx & Westerman with ‘Licking Chocolate’ the title track from a two track EP out last week. Berlin based producer Emanuel Satie who is joined by MAMA for the amazing ‘Paris’, his latest Get Physical single. Okayama producers Daisuke Kondo and Keita Sano issued a double split single on Mad Love Records. Kondo’s infectious ‘House Playa’ opens proceedings and features here.  Well known Tunis born Dusseldorf based producer Dice Corleone, aka Loco Dice released his new album Love Letters on his own label Desolat today. We could of chosen any number of tracks but the propulsively emotional ‘Under the Skin’ gets the nod. Antwerp producer Supreems has dropped another EP on Lobster Theremin. The gleaming closer off the four tracker, ‘Stream Of Conciousness’ comes from it. A couple f weeks back DJ Boring dropped another super nice left field house release with his For Than EP. The carefully constructed ‘Exotic Feelin’ is our pick from it. More left field out there is the manic new single from Swedish producer Mr Tophat who utilises machine and human on drums to fuck with tempo on ‘Only One’, a track in many guises. This is followed up by English Producer Emery Warman & Spanish equivalent David Salgado, aka Makanan with ‘Solero’, the title track off their new EP out this week. Rounding out the 10 is Fryhide owner HOSH who has enlisted Montreal’s Groj on vocals for the deep house number ‘Jedi’. More deep house comes from Jonas Rathsman in the form of ‘Draumzer’ and Mandar‘s gorgeous ‘String Theory, released in May but just brought to our attention The last new addition comes from TEE MANGO (Tom Mangan) with the half jackin’ stomper ‘Prototypical’.
