PLAYLIST UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 20. We added five more stellar additions to our Electronic and Experimental playlist over the past few days. We start with English DJ/Producer TJ Hertz, aka Objekt with ‘Secret Snake’, a cut that neatly stitches together a smorgasbord of restless musical ideas that range from his experimental side to the native electronic rhythms of both his adopted and turn of the century home, Berlin and Bristol. It’s the first track to appear from his second full length due out on PAN on the 9th November. That’s followed by Los Angeles based Frenchman Arthur Ponchon aka Art Bleek, with the title track, powerful and foreboding self released saunter from his new EP ‘Light And Dust’.

Following those tracks is the thumping arpeggios and heightened motifs of ‘V’, the flip side on the new Houndstooth released two track EP Vulpine from London producer Ross Tones aka Throwing Snow. At the end of August, Left field techno producer Max Ravitz aka Patricia released his new EP Free Lunch to follow up last years excellent triple album Several Shades of The Same Color. The standout on it for us is the emotive and breakbeat inspired ‘Early Stages of Something’ which melds together the celestial and the ethereal beautifully. Another Berlin based English DJ/Producer Mattr joins proceedings at track 5 with the ultra busy and wispy ‘Hyper’ from his new EP Prosim.

PLAYLIST UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 15. Malmö quartet We Float announced the release date for their new album What’s Really Real (Havtorn) and they lead our playlist this weekend with its first dreamy single in more ways than one, ‘REM’. Watch the video for it in our previous article. That’s followed by the ebbing flow of ‘Gilded’ from the Calgary and now Los Angeles based  experimentalist Sarah Davachi who this week released her new album Gave In Rest (Ba Da Bing!). Prolific electronic experimentalist Tim Hecker has released a new ten minute track ‘Keyed Out’ which will be on his forthcoming album komoyo (Kranky) out on September 28. Next is the floating house number ‘WinWin San’ from Berlin based Greek-Peruvian experimental producer Sofia Kourtesis which appears on the inaugural compilation Volym 1 from Stockholm left field house label Studio Barhnus

Following is Jena producer Gabor Schablitzki aka Robag Wruhme, who released his new album Wuzzelbud FF (Hart & Tief) and the experimental nature of the minimalist delight ‘Wabb Bodun’ necessitates its appearance here rather than in the Techno playlist.Logan Takahashi‘s new track ‘Feela’ is next from his forthcoming cassette Crema (Ghostly International) due October 5. NYC-based producer Jake Reif aka Device Control, follows with an experimental fusion of EBM and bleep techno in the form of ‘Spirit Module’, the title track from his new EP (Double Standards).

Future Museums, the kosmische and new age experimental project of Neil Lord who took out our first album of the week back in February with the brilliant Rosewater Ceremony is set to release its follow up cassette Rosewater Ceremony Part II: Guardian Of Solitude (Holodeck) on October 19. The meditative shimmering layers and sensory guitar you can hear belong to ‘Position The Inverse’ which was released three weeks back complete with this video by tronotape.

That’s followed by experimental ambient album centrepiece ‘Country of A Thousand Hills from Milan ambient techno duo Primal Code, whose La Via Della Seta (Hypnus) was our album of the week last week. Amber Cox‘s new EP Grimm Tales (Occultists) was featured here a week or so back and its closing track ‘Over The Oceans is next followed by Tel Aviv producer Rejoicer, who played the rightly shunned Meteor Festival in his country as one of The Buttering Trio. If only occupied or under siege Palestinian artists could play these kind of festivals free of arbitrary restrictions or being subject to unlikely Israeli government permission. The beautiful and strange ‘Alien Sphere’ is from Yuval Havkin’s new album Energy Dreams (Stones Throw)

Marie Davidson is next with her excellent first single, ‘So Right’ off her forthcoming album Working Class Woman (Ninja Tune). The founder of Simple Records and Aus Music Will Saul follows with his new single ‘By Your Side’ (Aus Music). Both currently in our Top 30 chart. Dutch producer Legowelt is next with a track from his eclectic new EP Omnibus Babylon (Clone Records) late last month. The most eclectic of the eclectic is ‘Golem Memory Bank’.

The busy title track ‘Liquid Sky’ from the new EP (Seilscheibenpfeiler) by Toronto producer Graham Bertie aka Nautiluss is followed by Berlin based DJ Producer Sarah Miller with ’50/50′ from her new three track EP Lots Road (Power Station). 808 ambient track ‘Random Pain’ comes right after from Assembler Code & Jensen Interceptor from the four track D&B inspired Vapour Waves (Mechatronica). HOSH follows with ‘Ride’ from his two track EP Unconventional Ride (Fryhide) and then Andre Lodemann combines Huw Costin’s acoustic guitar with electronic composition on the contemplative new single ‘Connected’ (Best Works).

The affecting ‘Eyes On Ceiling’ from Melbourne duo Conrad Standish & Sam Karmel aka CS+Kreme is next off their new two track EP also Cold Shoulder (The Trilogy Tapes) before Los Angeles lo-fi electronic artist Sports Coach sabotages his sublime ‘Tide Rider’ beautifully. That comes from his recent EP Dream Sports and fittingly ends the update.

This playlist is part of a genre based series of seven 30 track playlists we are sharig using the Spotify streaming platform. Tracks are roughly ordered by release date and will be replaced by new tracks we like as they become available. To change things up from time to time we may change tracks from the same artist and release. All playlists are regularly updated and limited to original tracks only. NEW INDEPENDENT ELECTRONIC & EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC:

AN INDIE30 PLAYLIST ON SPOTIFY

Updated September 15, 2018

OLDER UPDATES

PLAYLIST UPDATE: AUGUST 25.  The transformative electronic infused title track from Austin kosmische ensemble Sungod‘s new record Wave Refraction (Holodeck Records) is our first cab of the rank in our new Electronic and Experimental music update. Nine and a half minutes will go by before you know it! It’s one of 15 eclectic tracks added over the last couple of weeks. It’s followed by Arcade Fire member Richard Reed Parry‘s nicely avant-garde and folk inspired new single ‘Song Of Wood’ from his forthcoming solo effort Quiet River Of Dust Vol. 1 (Self Released/Anti). A strong candidate for album of the week nest week is Portrait With Firewood (R&S) by English experimental producer Djrum. In fact together with the past tracks from it, ‘Sex’ and Waters Rising’, he hasn’t left this playlist since we started it. The latest stunning addition is ‘Blue Violet’ a juxtaposition in tempo and mood with its solemn violin up against a very bubbly synth loop.  It folds out from there magnificently in all facets. That timing of the unlikely is amazing.

The ambient ‘Marvin’s Corner’ is up next from hardware electronic experimentalist Memotone who released his album The Rounded Room through Black Acre last week. Also getting a guernsey is Slovenian analog producer Ichisan who released his four track EP Megla on Kanto yesterday. The third cut, ‘Planica’ is a mighty tidy nostalgic yet galactic piece of space disco. Next comes the ultra delicate ‘Fog’ from Berlin based vibraphonist Masayoshi Fujita. It’s from his new album Book Of Life which was out earlier this month on Erased Tapes. Stand still and listen to the expert use of resonance and feedback in composition and song. Another analog and Berlin based act follows in the form of veteran electronic duo Skinnerbox. The busy rhythms and floating ambience of ‘Cold Neck’ is from the excellent two track EP on Darkroom Dubs,  Music For Sad & Rainy Open Airs .

Veteran left field electronic artist Matthew Dear is next with ‘Echo’ from his new EP Bunny’s Dream (Ghostly International) and following him is Mndsgn & Rejoicer* (Los Angeles and Tel Aviv* producers Ringgo Ancheta & Yuval Havkin respectively) with the slow psych tinged ambient jam ‘Purple T Shirts’ on Stones Throw.

Calgary electro-acoustic experimentalist Sarah Davachi follows with the buzzing chimes of ‘Gloaming’ out through Ba Da Bing before Los Angeles based New Zealand visual artist and composer Jesse Woolston‘s eerie epic ‘What Once Was’, from his self released Variations Vol 1 EP. Son Lux is next with ‘The Fool You Need (Enough Of Me) from the EP of the same name on City Slang.

Following SoLux London’s Kit Grill composes hypnotic old school music structures and title track his new album called Rhythm through Primary Colours is no exception.Following that we have The Woodleigh Research Facility, a collaboration between Andrew Weatherall and Nina Walsh. They released their fast and funky offbeat new single  ‘Heilige Seidhr’ on Höga Nord the end of last month and it precedes the French DJ/Producer Leo Pol with the breakbeat cum house of ‘Dark Outside’ from the Bass Culture released EP of the same name. Go to the playlist below.

English instrumental trio Haiku Salut return with the first single ‘The More & Moreness’ off their forthcoming album There Is No Elsewhere out September 7 on PRAH Recordings.

The deep and delicately arranged ‘Hubris’ from Earth Trax &  Newborn Jr leads the next batch of tracks. It’s off their new EP ‘If You’ on Shall Not Fade. English techno inventors The Black Dog deliver with the slow chug of ‘Literal Optical Slant’ from the Hoaxer EP 2 on Dust Science. Feliz Manuel, aka Djrum follows with ‘Waters Rising off his forthcoming album Portrait With Firewood on R&S, release date 17/8. Californian duo Mondo Lava are next with ‘Hippodrome’ from their recently released full length Ogre Heights out through Hausu Mountain. Hadamard’s Detroit inspired ‘Will To Power’ is one half of his contribution to a split four tracker with DJ Overdose for Code One, the new offshoot of veteran label Propaganda Moscow.

Swiss Italian all rounder N.O.T.E. has a new EP out called Night Frames on Tarletet and En Route’ from it is next before Bulgarian DJ/Producer Impérieux‘s glassy experimental house track, ‘Patron’ from his Veran EP.  Raime ends the recent updates with ‘The Nourishment Cycle’ from the Am I Using Content Or Is Content Using Me EP on Different Circles.

PLAYLIST UPDATE – JULY 23: To celebrate the release of her long awaited debut album Dream Punching, Canberra experimental artist Emma Kelly aka Happy Axe leads off the 12 new tracks since our last update. Having been blown away by ‘Sevens Sounds’, ‘Cheshire Heart’ and ‘Prayers and Mantras’, our pick of the next best out of the three remaining substantives among the five brief interludes is the simultaneously ethereal and dense ‘Oblivious Objects’. The album is out through Spirit Level here.

The next new entry is ‘K-Town Blues’ is from Los Angeles left field electronic lo-fi artist Sports Coach who in just under two minutes manages to shame to shit out of the supercillious and selfish attitudes stemming from the morally conservative, economically neoliberal and socially disconnective nightmare that has engulfied the entire western world over the last 30 years. It’s out on MANIMAL. We featured Montreal producer and artist FOXTROTT last month with the brilliant ‘WAIT’ and she returns with cacophonous danceability on her new single ‘Better With You’ from the forthcoming second tranche of her Meditations trilogy of EP’s for One Little Indian set for August 10.

Next up is the title track ‘Amae’ featuring the deep and affecting vocals Felicia Douglass. from the new EP for Last Night On Earth by Brooklyn based house and downtempo producer BAILE while futuristic footworkist JLIN returns on Planet Mu after last years stellar Black Origami with a unsettling scream of a new single ‘The Abyss of Doubt’. That precedes the epic electronica of ‘Voyager’ from Wavescape which will feature on the next RV Trax compilation out August 3 from R&S boss and legend DJ/Producer Renaat Vandepapeliere. For a review of the first release go here.

London electronic and post-dubstep producer Allen Wooton aka Deadboy, released his new six track EP Psychic Hotline a couple of weeks back for Unknown to the Unknown and the Japanese and breakbeat inspired ‘Ryuichi’ is our pick. The ambient and connective ‘Embrace of Light from Los Angeles producer Evan Reiner, aka Gossamer. is next up from his new album Imperishable on Innovative Leisure before the trippy opening track ‘Transit’ from Amsterdam producer Tracey‘s new Outcome EP on Intergraded follows.

Three French releases we missed from late last month end the new additions. Nimes experimental techno and house producer Darlyn Vlys released a new EP Faux Semblants on Upon You late and the enthralling flip side ‘Orbital’ precedes the spectacular ‘African Melancholia’ the first single from Léonie Pernet for Paris label InFine, the home of La Fraicher and Clara Moto. Last but certainly not least is the techno experimentalist Bambounou with the divinely esoteric atmosphere and intricate rhythms of ‘Dernier Metro’ from his new EP for Disk, Parametr Perkusja EP.

PLAYLIST UPDATE – JULY 10: Austin electronic quartet Thousand Foot Whale Claw released their amazing new album two weeks ago Black Hole Party and the title track and album opener ‘No Kingdom’ enter the playlist along with English left field electronic producer WEN and Dutch techno experimentalist Yaleesa Hall.

PLAYLIST UPDATE – JULY 7:   Moscow electronic artist and producer Kate Shilonosova, aka Kate NV kicks off the latest batch of new tracks in our creative and eclectic electronic and experimental new music playlist. The delightfully surreal ‘YOU’, comes off her new album FOR, recorded DIY style in her apartment. The hypnotic shuffle of the cleverly written and arranged ‘Template’ follows from American electronic artist and producer Galcher Lustwerk  off his new album 200% Galcher. Look for this to feature prominently in our chart when we return to normal service in a week or so. The super unique voice of English artist Yazmin Lacey with the slightly off kilter soul of ‘Body Needs Healing’ is next from her new album When The Sun Dips 90 Degrees. The best track comes from Filipino born and Los Angeles based artist Mark Redito formerly Spazzkid returns with ‘Never Letting Go Of The Moment’ a tribute to his sister’s generosity and patience while he established himself as an artist. He is followed by ‘Planet B’, the closer from Beautiful You, the new album experimental ambient producer Khotin. The mood grows gradually more darker with another HTRK track as the Melbourne duo released their new double a sided single Drama yesterday. You’ve heard the superlative ‘Mentions’ in our Top 10, and the exploration into inadequacies continues on the flip in the form of the equally good ‘More To Enjoy’.

English producer Captain Over‘s thrilling ‘Clack Clack’ is next from his debut EP No One Ever Really Flies which ushers us into our more experimental grouping of tracks. He is complemented by alluring and otherworldly ‘The Selfix Job’ from Tokyo based French electronic artist Franck Collin, aka Fleck E.S.C who released his new EP Discrete Opinion yesterday, a work of busy precision.

The inexorable ‘Tunnel Stalker’ comes fromProvidence native and now New York/Berlin resident DJ Richard trades in techno’s dark arts and his new album Dies Irae Xerox is no departure in that sense. Rather its a doubling down on the darkness of Grind with the addition of hardcore and acid elements. Following is Berlin based Italian abstract techno producer Marco Shuttle who recently featured on the excellent compilation Flowers From The Ashes  of Italian electronic artists put out by fellow Italian Berliner Lucy’s Stroboscopic Artefacts. Two weeks ago he released the atmospherically dark four track EP Tropicalia. The mesmerising opener ‘Aural Dawn’ is our pick from it. The dark portion of the playlist is complete with the addition of German electronic composer Prequel Tapes and the delicate drone based and static infused enveloper ‘Two Moons’.

Irish experimental producer J Colleran finishes off the 12 new tracks with the pastoral beauty of ‘Freesia II from his new album Gardenia.

Last weeks additions – July 1: Left Field artist and producer Alexis Georgopoulos, aka Arp starts with ‘Fluorescences’ from his brand new full length album Zebra. Afriqua (Adam Longman Parker) brings some disciplined elasticity forth on his acid house number ‘Noumenon’ from the EP Vice/Principal. Berlin based Israeli exile Mor Elian, having already released three EPs this year is the latest to feature on DJ Seinfeld’s DJ Kicks series with the track ‘Sci Si’. La Fraicheur, the project of French artist Perrine Sauviat, who is also currently living in Berlin has delivered her long awaited album Self Fulfilling Prophecy, a diverse affair illustrated by the fact that tracks from the album appear on three of our playlists currently. These folk are joined by Abby Echiverri (the spell check fucked us last week and made it Echiverria), the latest artist on NY label The Bunker and Hostage with Shawn Rydiman & Happy Axe.
