After masterfully drip feeding us four brilliant new tracks between July and September, earlier this month DIY New York City electronic pop outfit Mr. Twin Sister finally announced the release of their long awaited new album Salt. Four years in the making, we learnt that just two of the four gems would appear on the 9 track album leaving the singles from August ‘Power Of Two/Echo Arms’ to remain intact as an 4 track EP with remixes. That release came smack bang in the middle of the two tracks that will appear, the exceptional and tropical flavoured ‘Jaipur’ and the electronic soul of ‘Tops & Bottoms. And last week saw them share the third single from the record, the nocturnal, intricately smooth and sax subtle ‘Alien FM’. Recorded at Strange Weather with Daniel Schlett, the self released Salt follows up their sensational self titled 2014 record and can be pre-ordered for release this Friday, 25th October here. The band posed some tough questions of themselves and Salt, both the album and Andrea Estrella’s physical creation in their self-created EPK and then proceeded to answer them with great expanse and feeling;
Q’s: “Who is Salt? Why is the album titled Salt? Why did Andrea Estella build Salt? Why did Mr Twin Sister build Salt? Is Salt good for you? How much Salt is enough? Who will hear Salt? Can you hear Salt’s heels clicking down the hall? How tall is Salt? Tall enough to love? Tall enough to fear?”
A’s: “Salt is depthless, wandering, wanting, reliant, trapped, restless, waiting, wished upon, released, cinched, trimmed, unseen, erased, out-sung, seen, rewatched, unknown, smeared, unsure, wanting, needing, seeking, losing, refined, unobstructed, alone, cold, alien, purified, aged, polished, remade, fortified, forgotten, fearful, longing, waiting…”
