BE FOREST RETURN WITH KNOCTURNE

BE FOREST RETURN WITH KNOCTURNE

Pesaro trio Be Forest today released the expansive yet disciplined Knocturne, their first full length album in five years. A fuller more lush affair than their previous effort Earthbeat, which contained the excellent ‘Captured Heart’ and ‘Colours’, there’s a smouldering, expectant feel to this new record. But that smouldering expectation exists in a kind of strange and dark torpor and every one of Knocturne’s tracks work a shadowy somnambulist magic that never lets the listener awake and realise the light of day  — that seems always just out of reach.

Delay and reverb drip pleadingly and emotively from Nicola Lampredi’s guitar while Costanza Delle Rose dramatic bass lines while Erica Terenzi’s totem like drum beats and synth programming keep that false promise of light driving forward amidst a never ending maelstrom of darkness. Terenzi’s and Delle Rose’s celestial vocals together heighten the drama beautifully, giving you even more reason to hope that the light will come, putting the finishing touches on the perfect nocturnal dream pop and shoegaze storm.
