Berlin DJ/Producers Alex Tsiridis & Hüseyin Evirgren aka Cassegrain have returned with a new EP Addax, their first stand alone release for 18 months. It features four diverse and abstract cuts that are well worth that two year wait. Title track opens proceedings with punctuated percussion entering the fray to eventually give an unlikely rhythmic feel alongside the relentless granulated purr. That’s followed by the pacy rhythm and jarring echoed clang of ‘Markhor’ before on standout ‘Nubian Ibex’, the duo slowly and with considerable compositional intelligence unveil subterranean textural dimensions including submerged frequencies and grounded synths. Dub infused closer ‘Arabian Oryx’ recalls ‘Markhor’s strange and discordant nature but does so in subtle, measured and minimal fashion.

Addax is out today on Spanish label Warm Up Records. Buy here. ‘Nubian Ibex’ can also be found in our 30 track New Underground & Independent Techno Playlist on Spotify here.
