Quivers, the Melbourne based band coalescing around Tasmanian artist Sam J. Nicholson have released their sparkling new single ‘You’re Not Always On My Mind’. Ramping up the production in comparison to their almost lo-fi like debut album We’ll Go Riding On The Hearses, the driving rhythm section of Bella Quinlan’s muscular bass and Holly Thomas insistent drum work provides the perfect basis for Nicholson’s resplendent jangly guitar and off kilter vocal arrangements. And lead melodies are carefully almost telepathically delivered by Michael Panton to heighten the delight.
Now a significant other may not command Nicholson’s mind “all the time” but if he keeps producing songwriting like this, he always going to be on ours. ‘You’re Not Always On My Mind’ is accompanied by a quirky outdoors field recording theme in its Nina Renee directed video.
