After releasing her new EP Flinke Finger digitally in late February, Leipzig born and Zurich based Techno DJ/Producer YENI, has now fully unleashed it to streaming services. The three tracker boasts two impressive originals and a remix by fellow German Alex Bau. In keeping with the plethora of different approaches and sounds in techno at present, the two originals present very differently. Despite its inner swirl, at its outer edges the title track brings a more traditional straight up line of attack while the Alex Bau remix adds a heavy dose of atmospherics in both process and form. But the standout for us is the impacted groove of the triple beat dominant ‘Grusel’ which highlights YENI’s penchant for using kick and bass sounds to both heighten and darken the mood.
