Istanbul synthpop outfit Jakuzi have released their second full length album Hata Payı, the follow up to their 2016* debut Fantezi Musik. The first taste of the record surfaced in February with the pulsing circularity of ‘Yangın’ while we featured the the streamlined pop stylings of second single ‘Toz’ in our New Independent Postpunk, Wave, Shoegaze & Post Rock Playlist last month. The latest and third single, ‘Kalbim Köprü Gibi’ with its deep permeating synth arrangements, driving guitar and insistent rhythm currently has that playlist’s current pole position.
Hata Payı, (Part Of A Mistake when loosely translated into English) is the end result of the band’s determination to further diversify their approach to pop and new wave and bringing a slightly darker tinge to proceedings musically. Lyrically, a musing kind of melancholy pervades themes that are reflective of the fraught nature of emotions that swirl, often uncontrollably, around human connection.
