UK based Sydney artist Tom Crandles, formerly one half of electronic duo Au.Ra recently launched his new dream/jangle pop and post punk inspired solo project, Prudence. His debut EP Major Tom was released on Friday and its one hell of an intoxicating affair. We featured the angular and melodic swoon of first single, ‘Euphoria’ in our Post Punk Wave Shoegaze & Post Rock Playlist on Spotify back in March and now share the best track of the six in the form of insistent opener ‘Smile & Nod’. Sporting a driving rhythm to die for made all the more special by the emphasis on Crandles primary instrument, the bass guitar, the juxtaposition between his washed out vocals and world weary recollections up against the glistening layers of guitars and keys gives the track a surreal quality. Listen to the track below. You can also find it in the aforementioned Spotify playlist. Major Tom is available on digital and cassette through Forged Artifacts here.
