The quality is coming thick and fast in this neck of the woods and we are chuffed to be in the thick of it. What better way to begin than with the welcome return of the unique tones and idiosyncratic songwriting of independent music legend Bill Callahan. The searchingly abstract left fielder, ‘The Ballad Of The Hulk’ is from the six track surprise he released last Friday. They form the first side of his new album Shepherd In A Sheepskin Vest which will see full release on his long time home Drag City on June 14. He’s accompanied by New Orleans based singer-songwriter Esther Rose with the uplifting and determined title track from her forthcoming album Only Loving You.

The quality added with them comes from The Little Unsaid, Faye Webster, Gia Margaret, Justin Townes Earle, Loamlands, Willard Gayheart, TK & The Holy Know-Nothings, Cate Le Bon, Tanbark,  Shannon Lay,  V.V. Lightbody,  Bart,  Lucy Roleff,  Siri Svegler & Kim Yang.

That’s below that and on the web here.
