Los Angeles via Boston dream pop quartet Soft Blue Shimmer are set to release their debut EP Nothing Happens Here next month and last week they shared the superlative second single to come from it, ‘Fruitcake’. Bright, bold and intricate guitars deliver perfectly blended and toned melodies strongly backed by a tough and tight rhythm section. The silken authority of Meredith Ramond’s vocals is immediately striking and fits beautifully, hand in glove with the quartet’s well rounded take on the dream pop aesthetic. Charlie Crowley adds a nice contrasting vocal cameo too.

‘Fruitcake’ can be streamed below along with ‘Chamoy’, their first single from April. Nothing Happens Here is out on June 28 through Disposable America. Pre-orders here. You can also stream ‘Fruitcake’ which kicks off the current 30 track configuration of our New Independent Pop/Rock Playlist on Spotify. Follow that here.
