London based artist Ayşe Hassan aka Eşya has released an impressive new EP called Absurdity Of ACTG Part 1. It follows up her 4 track debut EP Absurdity Of Being, released in July last year. The Savages bassist and KiteBase member re-establishes the electronic and darkwave inspired inquisitive duality and oppositional nature of the project right up front with two sprawling tracks titled ‘Everything’ and ‘Nothing’. The dirty enveloping crunch of synth bass and Hassan’s forthright vocals characterise the beginning of the former before its engulfed in a dystopian clamour, a restrained beat driven industrial blare. The latter is a more conventional but no less complex affair as electric bass takes the place of its synth counterpart. A raw and unkempt low end rolls inexorably on, broken up by unremitting interrogative vocals and abrasive high end bass melodies. They are complemented by three much briefer tracks that continue the EP’s trajectory to unnerve and confound.
