It’s been four years since their third long player so its great news to hear that Santiago experimental and electronic outfit Föllakzoid have announced the release date for their third long player I, which follows up album’s II (2013) and III (2105). To mark the occasion they’ve shared ‘IIII’, an immersive bang on thirteen minute trip that sees a pulsating and transcendental minimal techno inspired beat slowly attach itself to a hefty clear eyed dose of hypnotic industrial dissonance.
It’s a track of immense proportions and one that showcases the trio’s new approach to both the processes of composing and recording. The album was constructed over a three month period from 60 separate stems of guitar, bass, drums, synthesizers, and vocals, all recorded in isolation then pieced together after the event by producer Atom TM. In the words of guitarist Domingæ Garcia-Huidobro;
“We found our sonic and metric identity even more in these songs than in our previous attempts…led by this non-rational, sonic artform and its energy…(it’s) an invitation to connect once again with your inner master and intuition, erasing the systematic rationalization that usually follows creative forces when perceived to guide you on this holographic simultaneous simulation where reality is rooted in.”
IIII is out on August 1st on Sacred Bones and available on 2X12″ clear vinyl. Listen to the title track below and pre-order album here. It’s also streaming here in our New Experimental & Electronic Playlist on Spotify
