Brooklyn based left field House DJ/Producer Maya Bouldry-Morrison aka Octo Octa has announced the release date for her third full length album Resonant Body, sharing the uplifting ‘Spin Girl, Lets Activate’ in the process. As its title and musical feel suggests, it’s a motivational and euphorically reaffirming affair utilising both her considerable production and mixing skills and the employment of acid tropes and classic samples to full effect. It’s a definitive departure in style and approach to the one taken on her brilliant second album, 2017’s glassy and hypnotic, circuitous and introspective Where Are We Going. The track’s busy nature mirrors, albeit with a different flavour, the commotion found on ‘I Need You’, the lead track on her EP For Lovers from earlier this year.
Resonant Body is the second release for her new imprint T4T LUV NRG she shares with her significant other, fellow DJ/Producer Eris Drew. The first was the disco and broken beat focused Raving Disco Breaks Vol.1 from Drew herself. In keeping with the two artists’ constant commitment to the realisation of a free and open minded and socially just world, the profits from sales of the record will go directly to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP) which works towards building a society where all people are free to self-determine their gender identity and expression regardless of class or culture, free from harassment, discrimination and violence.
