Prolific Tokyo experimental electronic artist Chihei Hatakeyama has released a new four part album called Ghost Woods. Each part together forms in totality ‘Freeze’, a work carefully built utilising layers of drone and ambient based applications and then organised into two seven minute pieces and two pieces extending over twenty and thirty minutes respectively. Writing the EP around his visit to the Japanese Canadian Powell Street Festival in Vancouver, Hatakeyama was influenced by both the history of the Nikkei community in Canada and their internment and theft of their possessions during WW2 and the jaw-dropping beauty of the region’s environment. Be drawn by opening cut  ‘Freeze I’ and continue to go deeper with ‘Freeze II’ which heads up the current batch of 30 tracks in our New Experimental & Electronic Playlist on Spotify. Complete the mesmerising journey by picking up a copy of Ghost Woods, available through White Paddy Mountain Records 東京都, here.
