Powerful, melodic jazzy post rock from L.A outfit Whale Fall precedes prog influenced and cinematic post rock Hyderabad guitarist Arka Sengupta’s Home Brewed Universe and Oakland’s Trevor Humphrey aka Deer Park Ranger respectively before recent album of the week artists, the Japanese post rock quartet downy inject the genre with some withering rhythmic mathematics.

Two indie supergroups of sorts feature. There’s slowcore inspired shoegaze from LA-based Gold Cage, the dream pop variety of same from Beach Vacation and Finland’s Mumrunner before pop focused post punk arrives albeit in different guises from Pamplona quartet Melenas, Chicago’s Cafe Racer, Bristol outfit Stay Lunar with the dreamy contribution from Bathe Alone, the protect of Atlanta multi-instrumentalist Bailey Crone.

The shoegaze goodness continues from ethereal Moscow outfit Peach Gardens and Portland trio Candace before some angular lo-fi pop from Swede Erik Holger plays ahead of the post punk drama of Milanese duo Clone Culture and the cold wave Brussels duo Kinex Kinex.

The remaining tracks are the no wave/post rock jazz stylings of Skalpel, the warped shoegaze of Yogyakarta outfit Winona Dryver and the nostalgic post punk of Torquay quintet Tourists.

That leaves the previous week’s tracks from Fearing, Pozi, Primo! and Deeper.
